As a working Mum, at times I found it difficult to achieve a work-life balance – I felt guilty, always under pressure and didn’t feel that I always got it right. Career growth and development is important as well as your family well-being.
But life isn’t about getting it right, it’s about the learning. So here are some practical tips to help you manage both effectively – I wish I had had these tips 10 years ago.
Prioritise and Plan
One of the first steps to achieving work-life balance is to prioritise your tasks and plan your time effectively. Create a daily or weekly schedule that includes both work commitments and family activities. Use tools like calendars, planners, or apps to keep track of important dates and deadlines. I also blocked out time to prepare for work, self-care and to have family fun. By planning ahead, you can ensure that you give time for both work and family without feeling rushed or stressed.
Set Boundaries
Setting clear boundaries between work and family time is crucial. Number one tip use positive family time management thinking to make sure that the family feels like they are number 1. Communicate your work hours to your family and let them know when you need uninterrupted time to focus on your job.
